NIKE X APPLE AIRPODS MAX CONCEPT REDESIGN

This concept redesign of the Apple Airpods Max was my final project for my Intro to Solidworks studio class. The prompt was the take a piece of technology and redesign its body or aesthetic, making sure to preserve space for the original technological components to continue functioning properly in the redesign. I chose the redesign the Apple Airpods Max as a concept collaboration with Nike, based on Apple and Nike’s historic partnerships. As an athlete myself, I noticed a gap in the market for high end over ear headphones that were designed specifically with athletes in consideration - many athletes either wear over ear headphones casually before competition or earbuds during training. I saw this redesign as an innovative opportunity for two brands to collaborate and extend their brand visibility into the other company’s market.

My redesign visits the original aesthetic of the Apple Airpods Max from the perspective of an athlete. In minimizing the headphone’s bulkiness, doing away with the mesh headband, and proposing more lightweight aluminum and silicone features, this redesign becomes an exercise and sweat friendly pair of headphones, embodying the luxurious simplicity and fast, athletic design that Apple and Nike respectively are known for. A high end headphone for a high end athlete - and a unique collaboration that invites generations of new and technological athletic fashion.
